GUIDED CULTURAL HERITAGE TOUR OF CHENNAI & MAHABALIPURAM FOR NAANDI FOUNDATION

Naandi Foundation is an NGO doing CSR implementation activities. Their annual meeting of volunteers from across India who are working on grassroots-level CSR activities happened this week. As part of the meeting, they also wanted to invest one day on a cultural heritage tour of Chennai and Mallai to enable them to understand and appreciate the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu culture and its art and architecture. The participants found the tour valuable not only for the deep insights into local traditions, art, and architecture, but also for fostering team bonding and shared inspiration. Many volunteers shared positive feedback about the fresh perspectives gained, as well as how the experience brought the group closer together through engaging activities and collaborative exploration.

Happy to associate with them in curating a suitable tour program for a large group of 60+ and executing it with an immersive experience that met the group’s interests and expectations.
We shortlisted two locations.

a. Morning trip to Dakshin Chitra. Experience the rich housing, crafts, and artisans from four South Indian states.
b. Evening trip to Mallai with its art and architecture, which highlights the innovative experimentation of Pallavas in a short span of 100 years

This entire trip was made immersive with close interaction with the following innovative approach.

01 Pre-tour Presentation Briefing - About the history and background of the location, visuals, and key highlights of monuments to be visited.  This created excitement and hype in people.

02 A Hard copy handbook covering the above with more details, maps, and instructions given to all.  This enabled easy reference and taking notes during the tour  and a take-home for future use .

03 To avoid cluttering in Dakshin Chitra , the group was split into 4 teams with 1 coordinator each to start from 4 different corners, and we were able to cover it in 2 hours quickly

04 To Optimize interactions and quick convergence, group split into 2 teams, each covering Rathas and Caves, and then both finally covering Shore Temple

05 A Gaming approach was adopted with 10 questions on each monument for the participants to explore, find answers, and get rewarded. Happy that many were enthusiastically explored .

06 Flexible Spare time in the evening to explore Mahabalipuram on their own, in the evening before starting back to the hotel .

Our approach at Babu4Heritage Initiatives has been to curate memorable and repeatable immersive experiences to visitors across India and international travellers , well-suited to their specific needs.
